Mackowski Sparkles in 5-0 Blanking of Minnesota
The Minnesota Loons manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Las Vegas Aces. The Loons were overpowered by Las Vegas starter Ron Mackowski, who hurled his club to victory, 5-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Brian Hughes said.

Over 9 innings, Mackowski blanked Minnesota on 4 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Mackowski said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

This year, Mackowski has worked 110.2 innings with 90 strikeouts en route to a 8-3 record and 3.50 ERA.
