|
The Las Vegas Aces stifled the Minnesota Loons, 3-2, at Caesers Palace Colosseum. Marco Llamas, who finished 4th in the WC in wins above replacement with 3.9 last year, had his hitting cap on. He was 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Las Vegas. Eric Dixon, the winning pitcher, is now 9-5. He went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 0. The Aces upped their record to 37-24.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Llamas hit a 2-run home run off Peter Auman. It propelled the Aces into the lead, 3-1.
Afterward, Aces manager Casey Lyman was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
