Thanks in large part to shortstop Abel Smith, the Chicago Union beat the Tampa Bay Thunder, 4-3. Smith went 3-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jason McNeal snagged the win in relief. He goes to 6-0 on the season. Dylan Smith suffered the loss. So far in 2024, Chicago is 33-28.

Smith had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a full count cutter from Dylan Smith, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Union a 4-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Smith.

"We want to make a habit of winning," Smith said after the game.
