Cutthroats Eke Out 6-5 Win Versus Los Angeles
|
Despite a great performance by Los Angeles third baseman Fernando Medina, the Denver Cutthroats defeated the Knights by the score of 6-5 at Cutter's Cove. Medina went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Denver reliever Garrett Vogt was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Edwin Gomez. Earning his 7th save for Denver was Junro Yano.
The Cutthroats beat the Knights in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jerry Tobar produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Dustin Gauci, Tobar gave his team the lead, 6-5, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Good, blue-collar kind of win," said Cutthroats manager Tyler Montgomery.
The Cutthroats bumped their record to 23-19 with this win.
