San Francisco Peanuts pitcher John O'Connor was in top form, leading his team past the San Diego Roadrunners, 6-1. O'Connor, now 5-4, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Peanuts bumped their record to 33-25 with this latest triumph.
The Peanuts got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tom Higgins. For the game, Higgins went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 3-1 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Higgins.
