In a seemingly effortless performance, Brian Phillips of the Arizona Suns shot down the Minnesota Loons, 7-0, on 5 hits.
"Brian was just locating so well and using his pitches," Arizona manager Steve Brandson said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Phillips recorded 15 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Minnesota manager Brian Hughes said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
On his stats sheet this season, Phillips shows a 2-7 record, 12 starts, 73 innings, 77 strikeouts and a 5.55 ERA.
