Though the conditions were not ideal, the Detroit Motors and Miami Sun Sox came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

Detroit starter Luke Laurent put the Miami offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his splitter in leading the Motors to a 4-1 win. The 11th-place Sun Sox have lost 4 straight games.

Cesar Cerros, who is tied for 9th in the EC in hits with 44, had a direct impact on the outcome. Cerros contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Detroit up, 1-0.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Laurent told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
