El Paso second baseman Carlos Cortez helped his team beat the Denver Cutthroats, 7-6. Cortez, who leads the WC in RBI with 35, went 3 for 5 for the Diablos. Ashton Gray was credited with the save for El Paso, his 6th of the season. El Paso has an impressive 24-10 record.

El Paso used a clutch at-bat from Jeremy Barnes to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Diablos ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Cortez told the El Paso Times: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
