Adam Walsh of the Detroit Chargers was on top of his game.

The 33-year-old tantalized the Ottawa Capitals with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 3-0.

"He had the changeup working," Ottawa manager Noel Dolce said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Detroit hurler had 4 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.

Walsh told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

This year, Walsh has worked 37.2 innings with 28 strikeouts en route to a 1-3 record and a 5.02 ERA.
