Thunder Get Gritty, 2-1 Win
The Tampa Bay Thunder faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Sergio Hernandez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Trident Field by a final score of 2-1. Hernandez went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Dylan Smith, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. So far, the 2024 season has been disappointing for Chicago, now 7-10.

Tampa Bay used the hitting of Jesse Reynolds to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Thunder on top, 2-1. For the game, Reynolds had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Tampa Bay manager Ray McKay.
