Voodoo Stumble Again, Lose, 9-4
|
The El Paso Diablos finished off the New Orleans Voodoo, 9-4. Much of the credit belonged to designated hitter Aaron Shelby. Shelby went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Diablos. Jason Roether, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 4-0. El Paso, at 10-3, has sizzled in the early going.
Skylar Cole had a big run-scoring double for the Diablos in the top of the first inning. With El Paso leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Adam Bianco and swatted a double to center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diablos ahead, 3-0.
New Orleans manager Jason Tudor, after yet another defeat, said: "We don't want to panic. At the same time, we need to stop the bleeding."
