Matamoros Swats 3 Homers Monday, August 28th , 2023 Every now and then, everything just comes together. Alex Matamoros discovered that today at PBC Rookie Development Complex, as he smashed three home runs during the 17-5 Tampa Bay (R) Thunder win over the Nashville (R) Bluebirds. "I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them," the Tampa Bay (R) catcher said in his postgame interview. "The first was a hanging curve, the second was right down the middle and the last one was a good pitch, but I guessed right and put the wood to it." Matamoros, who is tied for 10th in the RCLE in bases on balls with 40, finished the day with 3 hits in 5 at-bats and 7 RBIs. Alex Matamoros walked in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Alphonse Bohman in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Antonio Costas in the 5th, struck out in the 5th, flied out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Randy Hansen in the 9th. This year, Matamoros has socked 72 hits in 237 at-bats for a .304 average with 12 home runs. He is getting on base at a .409 pace and his totals also include 40 RBIs and 40 runs scored. |
