Petty Shuts Out Mavericks Thursday, August 17th , 2023 There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching. Jason Petty of the Tulsa Twisters blanked the El Paso Mavericks, 4-0, at Tulsa Park, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 5-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles. "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Petty said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance." Petty walked 0 and struck out 14 in the victory. "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Mavericks manager Kevin Jones said later. Up to now Petty has recorded a record of 14-2. In 25 starts he has fanned 163 batters in 176.1 innings with a 2.50 ERA. View Boxscore |
