Best EC Reliever Named Wednesday, November 8th , 2023 Gary Ayala said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 26 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Atlanta Pilots rising star has won the Eastern Circuit Reliever of the Year Award for 2023. He captured the award on the strength of his 1.87 ERA over 62.2 innings. He also had 23 saves in 40 relief appearances, 79 strikeouts and only 20 walks. He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 24. Evan Rich of the Philadelphia Keystones finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Dylan Smith of the Tampa Bay Thunder finished third with 1 first place vote.
