Houston Comes up Empty Against Palafox Sunday, September 24th , 2023 The Houston Mavericks were almost helpless in their 3-0 loss to the San Francisco Peanuts and hurler Ivan Palafox. Palafox kept the Mavericks confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Palafox," Houston manager Eric Hartman said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 26-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Palafox said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way." Checking out his stats for the season, Palafox has notched 4 wins and 4 losses in 15 starts.
