Escamilla Puts Screws to Arlington
|
Alexis Escamilla of the Tulsa Twisters was on top of his game.
The 28-year-old tantalized the Arlington Stars with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.
"He had the changeup working," Arlington manager James Russo said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Tulsa hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 6 hits in his complete-game effort.
Escamilla told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
So far this year, Escamilla has a 2-2 record with a 4.00 ERA.
