The Tampa Bay Thunder inaugurated their 2023 season with a tough 7-6 loss to the Indianapolis Clowns at The Thunder Bowl. First Baseman Kevin Brown had perhaps the best performance for Indianapolis. John Hawkins was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Dylan Smith.

Indianapolis relied on the bat of Garrett Thomason to get the win. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Clowns ahead, 7-6. For the game, Thomason had 2 doubles and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Thomason told the Indianapolis Today.
