Gothams Lose By a Run at Washington
|
The Washington Warriors earned a close win over the New York City Gothams, thanks in part to Tom Mills. The Washington right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Josh McQueen finished the game for Washington and earned his 3rd save. The Warriors saw their record improve to 34-50.
Chris Phillips, who finished 4th in the EC in triples with 5 in 2016, took New York City hurler Guadalupe Cabrera deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Warriors on top, 3-2. In all, Phillips had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Every loss stings," said New York City manager Jacob Sanders. "This one is no exception."
