Late Rally by Shamrocks Locks Up 9-5 Win

The inspired effort of Nashville third baseman Mikizo Ikegami was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-5, to the Boston Shamrocks. Ikegami went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Fernando Sanchez, who is tied for 2nd in the EC in saves with 11, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 9-9. Boston now owns a record of 40-44.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Roberto Alarcon came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Nashville pitcher Chris Watkins, he hit a 2-0 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 6-5.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Alarcon told the Boston Today.
