The San Francisco Peanuts had to overcome a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Corey Martin to win, 5-3, at Garibaldi's Grounds. Martin went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. San Francisco reliever Greg Morris, who is tied for 2nd in the WC in holds with 5, was credited with the win. His record goes to 5-1. Bryce Jacobs took the loss for Los Angeles. The Knights, at 37-36, have lost 4 in a row.
The Peanuts beat the Knights in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Tom Higgins produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Bryce Jacobs, Higgins gave his team the lead, 5-3, when he hit a 2-run single.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Higgins, "and then get after it again."
