The Las Vegas Aces picked up a win at Caesers Palace Colosseum, downing the El Paso Diablos, 4-2. On the mound for Las Vegas was right-hander Ron Mackowski, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Mackowski. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Mark Brown. Alex Deatras finished to wrap up his 1st save.
The Diablos had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Aces going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the five-time All-Star Marco Llamas came to the plate. Llamas hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 slider from El Paso hurler Mark Brown. It was Llamas's 9th home run of the year.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Mackowski.
The victory gives the Aces a record of 21-17.
