The Indianapolis Clowns and Tampa Bay Thunder obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

Indianapolis beat Tampa Bay at Blues Field, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Sam Abel. He went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. The 9th-place Clowns improved to 21-27.

Carlos Cruz aided the Indianapolis cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder was 1-3.

Cruz told reporters after the game: "Close wins always feel extra good."
