Ramirez on Fire: 5-for-5 for Long Beach
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Raul Ramirez, it came around today.

The 20-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over Long Island Park to pace the 6-5 Long Beach Titans victory over the St. Petersburg Pelicans.

St. Petersburg skipper Kyle Moe told reporters in the press room that "Ramirez deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Ramirez hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Raul Ramirez doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Justin Diaw in the 9th.

In 54 games this year, Ramirez has posted a .259 average and put up these numbers: 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
