Indianapolis Jukes Past Washington, 6-5
|
The Indianapolis Clowns defeated the Washington Warriors, 6-5. Third Baseman Garrett Thomason deserved a large share of the credit. Thomason was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Clowns. John Hawkins picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Ryan Matlock, who finished 3rd in the EC in saves with 15 in 2018, was tagged with the loss. Washington now owns a losing streak of 7 games.
Bob Ortega was the walk-off hero for Indianapolis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Clowns catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Ortega said.
