Bluebirds Get Clutch Win Versus Indianapolis
|
The Nashville Bluebirds faced a tenacious opponent in Indianapolis pitcher Javier Mata, but still scratched out a win at Blues Field by a final score of 4-3 in 11 innings. Mata went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Josh Biggs, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The win gives Nashville a record of 6-5.
It could have been a different outcome for Nashville, had it not been for Mike Battle, the 28-year old center fielder . Battle contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Nashville up, 4-3.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Indianapolis manager Matt Mays.
