The San Francisco Peanuts started the Play-in Series in dominant fashion, blowing out the host Denver Cutthroats at Cutter's Cove by a score of 10-4 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Peanuts second baseman Sergio Peniche went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 5.

In the top of the second, San Francisco center fielder Francisco Rodriguez had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and two out, Rodriguez stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 3-1, San Francisco. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Rodriguez, "one at-bat at a time."
