Martinez on Fire, 5-for-8 Against New York City (R) Friday, August 19th , 2022 Las Vegas (R) Aces center fielder Bernie Martinez had a day to remember at PBC Rookie Development Complex, ripping apart the New York City (R) Blues and sparking the 12-5 Aces win. Martinez wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-8. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Martinez told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Bernie Martinez struck out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, flied out in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Jeremiah Ellis in the 13th.
