Amaro Grabs WAC Reliever of the Year Award Friday, September 23rd , 2022 He may only be 24, but Nelson Amaro of the Arlington Stars has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Western Amateur Circuit. The reliever was today named the WAC Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2022. He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 18 saves in 46 relief appearances and 101 strikeouts in 94 innings. He had a record of 7-7 to go with his 2.87 ERA. He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 20. Mike Schwartz of the Houston Apollos finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Lloyd Fowlow of the New Orleans Buccaneers finished third.
