Platt Smashes 3 Homers for Houston
Friday, September 9th , 2022
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.
It happened at Mavericks Ballpark, as Tim Platt of the Houston Mavericks unloaded three times against the San Francisco Peanuts but was still bumped off, 8-6, by the Peanuts.
"We were lucky to win today," said San Francisco skipper Keven Berman. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."
For the game, the Houston first baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 6.
Platt spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.
"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
Tim Platt grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Nick Manning in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Nick Manning in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Raquel Lobato in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
This year, Platt has batted at a .295 pace with 74 hits, 15 home runs, 45 RBIs and scored 42 times.
