Los Angeles got a terrific game from first baseman Paul Jones. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to El Paso, 11-5. Jones went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Jason Roether, who threw 96 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 12 hits. Clint Labonte earned the save for El Paso.

El Paso went up, 10-5, on Jake Terzic's 1st triple of the season. The bases-clearing triple, which Terzic hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher Nick Jones feeling deflated.

"We maximized our offense today," said El Paso skipper Joe Peters. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The Diablos, now 8-1, have been playing some good baseball.
