Pedro Diaz exploded for a barrage of base hits at PBC Rookie Development Complex.

The Tampa Bay (R) catcher had a field day in his team's 11-5 triumph over the St. Louis (R) Lions, finishing 5-for-5.

"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."

Diaz must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Pedro Diaz doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Muwaffaq Mamdouh in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

In 42 games Diaz is hitting .314 this season with 53 hits, 7 home runs, 30 RBIs, 26 walks, .412 OBP and has scored 25 runs.
