The performance of Jason Thomas proved critical in helping Houston beat Los Angeles, 5-4. The Mavericks third baseman went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Yates. He tossed 134 pitches over 8.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 13 hits. Toshifumi Sato picked up his 6th save of the season.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Thomas told the Houston Citizen. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
