The Detroit Motors weathered an outstanding game by Chicago second baseman Brandon Hicks to topple the Union, 6-5. Hicks went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win elevated the Motors to 42-30.

Detroit took a 6-5 lead on Jon Nelson's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Nelson hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Troy Moody visibly frustrated.

"Every good pitch to hit is a strike," said Nelson. "But not every strike is a good pitch to hit."
