Platt Stars in 8-6 Loss to San Francisco
|
San Francisco and Houston put this game in the books despite some rain.
The San Francisco Peanuts besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Houston first baseman Tim Platt by beating the Mavericks, 8-6, at Mavericks Ballpark. Platt slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times. Nick Manning got credit for the win, improving to 5-8. He allowed 5 runs on 4 hits in 6.1 innings.
In the top of the fifth, Travis McCombs delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the San Francisco right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Peanuts in front, 8-6.
McCombs told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
After today's action, San Francisco sits at 34-37, while Houston falls to 35-36.
