The Chicago Union got great pitching from reigning Pitcher of the Year Award winner Sergio Hernandez, allowing them to bump off the Houston Mavericks, 3-1. Matt Boatright earned the save for Chicago. The win elevated the Union to 32-30.

Chicago won the game in part because of Jay Clinkscales. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Union ahead, 3-1. For the game, Clinkscales had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"Sergio gave us a really strong effort," said Chicago manager Ron Chiu.
