Boston Commons was the site of a tense game between the Chicago Union and Boston Shamrocks.

Boston pitcher Bob James had a large part in his team subduing the Chicago Union, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Ryan Reutter in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Alexis Hernandez took the loss. Andrew Chatman sewed up the save, his 4th.

Had Tamotsu Nishimura not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Nishimura hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Shamrocks.

"The other side played a good game," said Chicago manager Ron Chiu. "You tip your cap to them."

Boston has a record of 19-25, placing them 7th in the PBC East Division.
