Houston picked up a win at Camelot, bumping off the Los Angeles Knights, 8-2. Pitcher Matt Beissel was a major reason the Mavericks emerged victorious. The winner was Beissel. He threw 8.2 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Adam Bianco. Even with the win, the Mavericks have a dismal 7-15 record.
Houston used the hitting of Tim Platt to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mavericks on top, 3-2. For the game, Platt had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"In baseball, you can never take anything for granted," said Beissel. "Someone can be on top of the game one month and in three or four months you can be out of the game."
