Washington (R) Snaps Villalva Streak at 20 Monday, August 23rd , 2021 Ivan Villalva saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die during the Tampa Bay (R) Thunder win over Washington (R) at PBC Rookie Development Complex. The 19-year-old second baseman was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the Washington (R) Warriors, but his teammates produced enough offense to win the game, 4-2. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Villalva told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 20 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." This year, Villalva is batting .344 with 6 home runs and 38 RBIs. In 54 games he has scored 45 times. |
