Boyer Smacks 5 Hits for Union Friday, July 23rd , 2021 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Eric Boyer said his club's tilt with the Denver (R) Cutthroats "felt almost like batting practice." The 19-year-old center fielder went a remarkable 5-for-6 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Chicago (R) Union, who were topped by the Cutthroats, 11-10. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Union manager Shane Chassion said. "Sometimes Eric is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-6 and lose than go 0-for-6 and lose." Eric Boyer singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
