Toronto (R) Advances to Championship Cup Thursday, October 7th , 2021 The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at PBC Rookie Development Complex as the Cup Qualifier stretched to the final game. It was the Toronto (R) Titans feeling the thrill of victory, with a 5-2 win over the Houston (R) Mavericks, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Championship Cup. "There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Houston (R) manager Tom Smolar. "Congratulations to Toronto (R), but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight." Instrumental in the 3-2 series win was second baseman Josue Delgado, who was named MVP. He hit .524 with a .565 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 5 runs. "We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
