Done Deal: Meares for Schene Wednesday, December 15th , 2021 You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Southern California and Calgary have made a swap with 24-year old minor league LF Brian Meares being shipped to the Caracals and in return the Empires would get 31-year old RHP Justin Schene. Southern California general manager Nate Smith said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction. "This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines." A source inside the Southern California organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works. During his career, Schene's won-lost record is 35 wins and 24 losses with a 3.53 ERA. He has limited other teams to a .228 average. |
