Hamilton, Ottawa Deal Made
Tuesday, November 23rd , 2021
You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Hamilton and Ottawa have made a swap with 19-year old minor league RHP Willie Garcia and 19-year old minor league RHP Alex Perez being shipped to the Capitals and in return the Tigers would get 34-year old 1B Mike Daniel and 23-year old minor league LHP Jamie Johnson.
Hamilton general manager Eric Coley said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction.
"This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines."
A source inside the Hamilton organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works.
In his career, Daniel has played in 154 games with a .229 batting average. Among his 124 hits are 19 doubles, 1 triple, and 13 home runs. He has also scored 67 runs, walked 59 times, tallied 18 stolen bases, and driven in 46 runs.
