Big Day for Torres: Swats 5 Hits
A jubilant Miguel Torres joined the postgame press conference at Knights Grove to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the New Orleans Buccaneers pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the San Diego Aztecs first baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 14-4 Aztecs win.

"He made it look easy," said Aaron Kayser, manager of the Buccaneers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Miguel Torres hit a solo-shot off Oscar Cornejo in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.

For the season, Torres is batting .313 with 26 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 12 times and batted in 9.
