Barnhart Belts Bunch of Base Hits
It was almost a perfect day for Theodore Barnhart.

The St. Louis (R) shortstop displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Lions lost to the Chicago (R) Union, 10-5. Barnhart told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle."

St. Louis (R) manager Phil Howard told the beat writers otherwise.

"There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well."
