Cup Qualifier Goes the Distance, Tampa Bay (R) Prevails Wednesday, October 7th , 2020 PBC Rookie Complex League pundits who figured the Cup Qualifier between the Tampa Bay (R) Thunder and Denver (R) Cutthroats would go the distance were right on the mark. The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Tampa Bay (R) coming out on top thanks to a 9-8 win in the deciding game at PBC Rookie Development Complex, to wrap things up 3-2. "You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Thunder third baseman Justin Gifford, who was named series MVP. For the series, Gifford had 13 hits for a .684 average. He had 1 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 6 runs. The Championship Cup matchups and schedule will be announced after the Cup Qualifier finishes.
