Aponte Socks It to Blues, Cracks 5 Hits Saturday, September 12th , 2020 It was high-fives all around for Mario Aponte at PBC Rookie Development Complex. He got them from his teammates and he got them at the plate during an outstanding hitting performance against the New York City (R) Blues. Aponte smashed 5 hits in 6 at-bats on his monster day, leading his club to a 6-5 win. "Mario was hitting everything," said Knights manager Mark Wickenkamp. "It really was a special game for him." In the opposing dugout, Blues manager Norimoto Kayano told BNN beat writers that Aponte "ambushed" the club. "Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but we'll have another chance," the skipper said. "Hopefully, Aponte oversleeps next time." Mario Aponte hit a two-run home run off David Barcenas in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th.
