Benson Raps Toronto (R) for 5 Hits Wednesday, August 12th , 2020 A jubilant Mark Benson joined the postgame press conference at PBC Rookie Development Complex to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Toronto (R) Titans pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Denver (R) Cutthroats shortstop, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-7 hitting performance, which led to the 10-9 Cutthroats win. "He made it look easy," said Joe Lindquist, manager of the Titans. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Mark Benson hit a solo-shot off Juan Delgado in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, hit a three-run home run off Willie Bernardino in the 9th and singled in the 10th. For the season, Benson has hit .269 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs. He has played in 50 games and scored 47 times. View Boxscore |
