Carrillo Named WAC Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Wednesday, September 23rd , 2020 What does it take to win the Pitcher of the Year Award? Just ask Carlos Carrillo of the Tulsa Twisters -- the latest Western Amateur Circuit Pitcher of the Year Award winner. "My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Pitcher of the Year Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career." The Twisters pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 16 games and losing only 4. In 28 starts, Carrillo registered a 2.86 ERA and limited other clubs to a .235 batting average. He fanned 172 in 188.2 innings and issued 52 walks. He received 19 first place votes out of a possible 20. Cory Rodgers of the El Paso Mavericks finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while George Dickie of the Houston Apollos finished third.
