Manhattan Reliever July's Best Pitcher Saturday, August 1st , 2020 Sometimes relievers are treated like second class citizens, most of the time the award goes to the starters, but not this month. A reliever, Marco Vega, has been named the Pitcher of the Month in the Eastern Amateur Circuit. In July, the Manhattan relief specialist stood out with 5 saves in 14 relief appearances, a 3-1 won-lost mark and 4.05 ERA. He worked 26.2 innings, allowed 22 hits, struck out 32 and walked 13. For the season, Vega has earned 15 saves, worked 75.2 innings, fanned 84 hitters and recorded a 4.04 ERA. He has held opposing teams to a .245 batting average. |
