Welch King of Fling with No-Hitter Tuesday, July 28th , 2020 Matt Welch was untouchable at Central Park, displaying a good fastball and wicked breaking balls in his 4-0 win against the St. Petersburg Pelicans. The Manhattan hurler did not allow a single hit, fanning 7 while walking 4. "This is great," Welch told reporters after the game. "Every pitcher wants a no-hitter. I just wanted the win, but the no-hitter is a little extra icing on the victory cake." This season, Welch has worked 43.1 innings with 37 strikeouts en route to a 3-1 record and a 2.08 ERA.
